Day Trips in DE

Tax-Free Shopping– If you’re planning a “shopping day”, the best place to head is Delaware; after all, it’s a tax-free shopping state! There are plenty of places to shop, including the Christiana Mall near Newark, which is an upscale shopping destination featuring an Apple Store, a brand new Cabela’s, and other anchor stores like Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, and JC Penney’s. Continue your shopping spree south to the Rehoboth Beach Tanger Outlets. The Tanger Outlets offer outlet shopping at name brand and designer factory outlet stores where you can find great deals – and yes, all TAX-FREE!

State Parks– Delaware has a variety of state parks that provide visitors with miles of trails and waterways to explore. Keep in mind there is a small entrance fee at each of the parks, so frequent visitors should consider purchasing an annual pass. An annual pass allows your vehicle and its occupant’s unlimited year-round entry into all 14 state parks without having to pay any daily entrance fees. The pass costs $35 for Delaware state registered vehicles, and $70 for out-of-state registered vehicles. The pass will allow you to enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, and more at all parks within the state.

Air Mobility Command Museum – The Air Mobility Command Museum is part of the National Museum of the United States Air Force field museum system. Volunteers at the museum instruct you on the principles of flight, including take-off, flying patterns, and landing at Dover Air Force Base. In addition, visitors 10 years-of-age and older can fly any of the museum aircrafts on their flight simulator! How cool is that? The museum is open Tuesday- Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission and parking are free!

Top-Rated Beaches– Delaware is known for having some of the nation’s top-rated beaches, including Dewey and Rehoboth beach, which were ranked as two of the nation’s cleanest beaches by the Natural Resources Defense council. According to visitdelaware.com, Bethany beach was named “one of the top 10 Best Beaches for Families by Family Vacation Critic and is known as one of the ‘Best Secret Beaches’ by Travel + Leisure Magazine.”  Each provides an abundance of local festivals, boardwalks, and shopping to enjoy. Du Pont Mansions- The beautiful Brandywine Valley, located in Wilmington, offers three different tours of the most elegant mansions in the country. They are Nemours Mansion & Gardens; Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library; and Hagley Museum and Library, which are all part of the Du Pont family’s rich history. The Winterthur museum, Garden, and Library hosts an Enchanted Woods where kids can explore the Troll Bridge or take a walk through the Fairy Flower Labyrinth. Costs for guided tours of the estates or walks through the gardens range from $10-$20.

†We offer personal loans from $1,000 to $25,000, with minimum and maximum amounts dependent on an applicant’s state of residence and the underwriting of the loan. Loans between $1,500 and $7,000 may be funded online. Loans greater than $7,000 or less than $1,500 are funded through our branch network. Specific interest rates and fees are determined as permitted under applicable state law and depend upon loan amount, term, and the applicant’s ability to meet our credit criteria, including, but not limited to, credit history, income, debt payment obligations, and other factors such as availability of collateral. Not all rates and loan amounts are available in all states. Not all applicants will qualify for the lowest rates or larger loan amounts, which may require a first lien on a motor vehicle not more than ten years old titled in the applicant’s name with valid insurance.

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. As a result, under our customer identification program, we must ask for your name, street address, mailing address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

*The process uses a “soft” credit inquiry to determine whether a loan offer is available, which does not impact your credit score. If you continue with the application process online and accept a loan offer, or are referred to a branch and continue your application there, we will pull your credit report and credit score again using a “hard” credit inquiry. This “hard” credit inquiry may impact your credit score.
