Free school backpacks were handed out to North Carolina and Washington kids just in time for the start of the new school year.
For the second year in a row, over twenty Mariner Finance branches sponsored the Back Pack Giveaway in Lumberton, North Carolina. Kids and parents lined up at the Robeson County Farmer’s Market before sunrise to receive backpacks filled with school supplies. Mariner team members handed out almost 700 bags with supplies in less than three hours.
At the Multi-Cultural Child and Family Hope Center in Tacoma, Washington, five local Mariner Finance branches sponsored and volunteered at the first-time event. Several hundred bags were handed out for families to stuff with notebooks and other school supplies.
These two Mariner-sponsored School Supply Giveaways provided almost 1,000 backpacks to local families in need. Supplies were donated through Mariner Finance’s Community Engagement Program, which supports communities by connecting Mariner Finance team members to their local neighbors.
