Going on a Cruise in 2021 and Beyond

cruise

It’s no secret that cruise vacations – and companies – were badly affected by the COVID pandemic.

Fortunately, going on a cruise in 2021 and beyond is starting to look very promising.

Many people still have concerns about health protocols, however. As a result, the major cruise lines are taking many measures to ensure safety and accountability for all future passengers. Learn about what cruise lines are doing and what you can do before, during and after your cruise to make your experience as safe and responsible as possible.

Before Your Cruise

Cruise lines are currently offering increased flexibility with canceling your cruise.  Some even let you cancel 15 to 30 days before you depart, depending on cruise line.  They ask that you do not board a cruise if you are sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

It is also recommended to view any warnings and recommendations on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control travel advisories,

During Your Cruise

Most cruise lines are now promoting increased sanitation of their ships to combat COVID-19.   These include enhanced air filtration systems, including HEPA filters, which some state removes 99.95% of airborne pathogens.  In cabins, some cruise lines are using Electronic Spray Technology to clean and sanitize rooms and public areas.

Also, cruise lines are implementing standard social distancing guidelines that are common in stores and restaurants.  This includes 6 feet of social distancing and mask wearing.

In addition, if an outbreak of COVID-19 happens on the ship, cruise lines have protocals to return to the port where they embarked.  They also state that if you get sick during the cruise, to stay in your cabin and notify the onboard medical center.

After Your Cruise

After your cruise, it is recommended to get a COVID-19 test 3-5 days after your trip.   The CDC also recommends to stay home for 7 days after a cruise, even if your test is negative.

Going on a Cruise in 2021 and Beyond is Easier Than You Think

What seemed like an impossible task just a few months ago is now anything but.

Before you book a cruise, be sure to do your due diligence on each cruise line’s schedules for return, health regulations, and cancellation policies. Also, take advantage of all the options that are available to you, including promotions.
